McDermott’s is a family-owned furniture retailer, established in 1964, with showrooms in Castlebar, Co. Mayo and Ennis, Co. Clare. Our business model is simple: we employ nice people to sell nice furniture to nice homes. That’s not just in Mayo but right across the West and beyond. Last year we delivered to all 32 counties on the island.

We’re growing, and we need a Sales Manager to run the sales floor day to day.

The role

This isn’t a CEO or MD role. The vision, the plan and the roadmap are already in place. We need a strong operator to bring them to life.

You’ll be at the heart of the business, part of our ‘Operation Transformed’ team, reporting directly to the directors. That means:

  • Running the sales teams and keeping them aligned
  • Making sure targets are hit, and leading from the front by selling yourself
  • Being on the floor when you’re needed
  • Organising training and keeping on top of health & safety
  • Taking ownership of the results

Who we’re looking for

A calm, organised operator who values structure, clarity and getting things done. You’re a leader, not just a manager, and people respect you for it. No ego, all action. Furniture retail experience is a big plus.

More space, shorter commutes, the Atlantic coast on your doorstep, and, if you’re coming home, family and friends a lot closer. Galway city is within easy reach of both showrooms, and Knock and Shannon airports have regular flights to the UK when you need to go back.
